Lakota Gaze is a revisit of a painting I completed earlier in 2016 Lakota Horseman. The Lakota Horseman image was so impactful that I knew I had to give it a different viewpoint, this time exploring a close-up. (Ideally I would revisit every piece from a different angle or vantage point, but generally don’t have the time.)

Lakota Gaze features a warrior in a strong profile pose. His face is painted with traditional yellow war paint and wears a bear claw necklace. Notice how his face demonstrates strength and determination.
